Rickey Cockrell
I am only 24 years of age (12/29/77) and I have been incarcerated
since the tender age of 17 years old. I have a daughter who is 10
year old daughter (7/28/92) and she remains a part of my life also she is
the soul reason I stay motivated to resurrect from this insane world called
prison.
I've experienced and witnessed several things happen behind these bars and it's looked upon in here by prisoners and guards as everyday prison life. It's totally insane because it's different situations for different individuals. For some it's inhumane (beatings, rapes, killings, harassment, etc.)
Fortunately I have never been raped nor harassed by my fellow inmates due to the fact that I've earned my respect by all means and I have the reputation as being one of those inmates you don't toy with (mess with). It's because I don't mess with no one nor do I look for trouble but if it comes to me I’ll meet it head on with a vengeance. In reality I’m a kind person, open minded, understanding, kind hearted and very easy to get along with. It's just that I will not be pushed around. Etc. I give respect in every way and I demand mine in return.
I asked Hasaan to put me on his web site so that I can reach beyond these bars and meet people that I may correspond and get better acquainted with etc. I’m focusing on progressing and trying to establish some things so that I can obtain my freedom that was taken from me.
I have been incarcerated for 7 years and 7 months due to a very immature decision to take part in a robbery. I still have a few more years to do before I come up for parole.
I’ve found that sometimes we have to go through something hurting such as in my case this incarceration to see, dig deep into ourselves , truly find ourselves and be about oneself to the fullest , where all about ourselves before we can be there for others (mentally, emotionally and physically). I’ve come to realize that and my experiences in the past life are what made me who I am today.

Today is a relevant day other than the melody coming from the voice of a dude named "Insane." He has received his alias due to the fact that the mental health medication he has been prescribed by the psychiatrist has put him in his own world and instead of helping him the medication has harmed him even more mentally . The majority of everything he does is abnormal rather than normal.
This place and atmosphere is a sad sight and brings grief to one's heart. who has a heart at least. I tend to be a self made counselor to the inmates and a listening ear. I guess it's because I have an wide outlook on life. After living the life I've lived and traveling down the road I've traveled out in society.
