As I write this letter I pray you and all are well.  As you can see I’m incarcerated but that not why I’m writing to you.  I’m a song/lyric writer and enclosed is a particular song out of the 200 plus songs I’ve written.  It’s a tribute to the mothers who gave birth after losing their husbands (the babies’ fathers) in the 9-11 Tragedy.  I wrote this song after seeing a special on TV about the mothers and their babies.  My heart went out to them as it did to all those who lost love ones and family on 9-11.  But I must admit when I heard one of the mothers say “Daddy’s Last Kiss” while looking at her baby, I was moved to tears.  During my emotional moment I started to write this song, giving into the tears.

I heard the mother say “Daddy’s Last Kiss.”  As you read the lyrics, you will see how I put my heartfelt emotions for them into words.  I wrote this song also in hopes that someone will produce and sing it to generate funds to help the mothers and their babies.  I have copyrights to the song/lyrics but I want nothing for myself, only to be acknowledged as the writer.

I guess you want to know why I’m bringing this to you.  Well it’s because I have much respect and honor for the people who have a genuine concern for others.  People with such a concern are appreciated by many whom they don’t know or will never meet, like myself.  I pray you decide to pursue my efforts with me and make this happen for the mothers and their babies.  Although we were wounded, we are still standing strong as Americans.  “God” bless America.

With a sincere thanks,

James Walker

You are the beautiful smile that daddy left for me
The joy and happiness that daddy meant to be
You are the memory of daddy’s love keeping me strong in every way
Yes the ray of sunshine that brightens up my everyday
Whenever I look at you my heart’s joy, I cannot hide
Knowing in some special way daddy’s here by my side

Chorus repeat:

Daddy’s last kiss ____________ that daddy left for me
Daddy’s last kiss ____________ I’m blessed to hold and see

You are the bundle of love sweetness daddy left to fill my heart
The sparkle in my eyes a masterpiece of daddy’s art
You are the key to future good times that I continue to look for
Yes the heart and soul connecting daddy and me forever more
Whenever I look at you my heart’s joy I cannot hide
Knowing in some special way daddy’s here by my side

Chorus repeat:

Daddy’s last kiss ____________ that daddy left for me
Daddy’s last kiss ____________ I’m blessed to hold and see

In the name of “God”, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Peace be unto you Brother Lee and the mercy of “God.  I pray you and all are well.  Your information was passed on to me so I could write to you.  I’ve had the chance to hear about you and what you have done and continue to do, concerning your efforts to help others.  Praise be to “God”.  There should be many more people like you, who have a genuine concern for the well being of others, no matter what walk of life.  As you can see I’m incarcerated in the Illinois Supermax at Tamms Correctional Center.  I’ve been here since June 6, 2000.  I’ve been incarcerated for 18 years.  I’m serving a natural life sentence, which I’m still fighting to get reduced or overturned.  In my 18 years of being incarcerated I’ve never been to segregation or under any kind of investigation, until the miscellaneous charges that landed me here at Tamms.

Those charges have since been expunged, but new false charges of being a validated STG (Security Threat Group) member have been logged as a reason to hold me at Tamms.  These charges are like the ones expunged, they have no merit.  I, along with many others, have been falsely held and accused only to justify the IDOC (Illinois Department of Corrections) reasons to have someone fill a bed space to keep this place open.  They claim this place is for the so-called worst, yet they have people like myself who have no disciplinary record to justify such a claim; these false accusations of STG Validation.

Many of us are stuck here with only one way out, which is to renounce such validation that is false and unfounded.  I personally will not lie to satisfy their ego or to be released from here.  Anyway any assistance you can render will be very much appreciated.

I also want to be of some help to you and your efforts helping others. As you have stated, we must stop our young from coming to prison and stop those who have been from returning.  With “God’s” help and blessings of guidance we can make a difference, even if we just reach one who in turn will teach one.

I am a song/lyric writer and I’ve written over 200 plus songs, which I’ve got the copyrights to (R&B, Gospel, Country Western, Rap, etc.).  Enclosed are some samples of my song/lyrics and a similar letter I wrote to Senator Mrs. Hilary R. Clinton a few months ago, along with a particular song.  I wanted to give her the first chance to help me with my efforts explained in the letter.  The songs titled  1) Solid Foundation; 2) Loved by “The Lord” and I Wish Everyday Could be Christmas, could be that source of fund for us both if the right people are contacted.  There are many others I know will be big hits if the right people are contacted.  I thank “God” for my gift to write songs.  I’m looking forward to your response.  May “God” bless you and all.

I close as I opened in peace,

James Walker

PS: I’ve heard about your book and Internet website.  Feel free to put anything I write to you in or on either.  I would love that.  Also I anyone replies to the website give them my address.

I WISH EVERYDAY COULD BE CHRISTMAS
Written by James Walker
12-10-01

Sleigh bells are ringing,
And everybody is having fun
Christmas carols being sung
Bringing good cheer to everyone

Gifts being exchanged between loved ones and between friends too
Cause at Christmas time that’s what people always do
It’s the special time of year when people share the most
And it’s celebrated all around the world, coast to coast

Chorus Repeat:

I wish everyday could be Christmas
With the same love and good cheer
I wish everyday could be Christmas
Not just one day out of the year

Joy and happiness seem
To always fill every street
People even show kindness
To the strangers they meet

I guess you can say it’s a blessing from Above
How during Christmastime hearts be overflowing with love
Yes a special time of year, when people share the most
And it’s celebrated all around the world, coast to coast

LOVED BY THE “LORD”
James Walker
05-31-01

When I wake to the sunrise I see and hear the birds singing,
So beautiful and their sweet sound touching my heart gets me thinking
It’s just so amazing how my heart see what my eyes see,
Making me realize how blest I am to have Someone really love me,
So when you wake up be thankful for the birds like I do,
And know you’re just as blessed because that Someone really loves you too

Chorus Repeat:

Being loved by the “Lord”
That’s who I’m talking about
Being loved by the “Lord”
Makes me give praises and shout

When I lay down to sleep under the stars and the moonlight,
The beauty of “His” creation continues to show “His” glory what a beautiful sight,
No words can explain “His” love and what all it does for me,
I just praise and thank “Him” for allowing my heart to understand and see
Just how truly blessed I am to have Someone love me like “He” do
But the greatest blessing of all is “He” loves the whole world too

SOLID FOUNDATION
James Walker
05-29-01

I’m standing on a solid foundation because I know that “His” word is true
This foundation is built on faith and love and has always seen me through
The bad times and good times because in “Him” I put all my trust.
Yes “Him” who makes the sun rise, rain fall and the stars sparkle for us.
Letting us bear witness to “His” glory and love that will last for all time,
And know “He” is “God” forever and “He” is the only of “His” kind.

Chorus repeat:

This ________ solid foundation
Is my faith and my guiding light
Its my strength that keeps me strong both day and night

This song may sound like a testimony truth be told it can be,
Because I’m a witness hallelujah to what having faith in “God” does for me
Don’t just take my word have faith and become a witness too,
Then you’ll have a testimony to tell how faith has seen you through.
The bad times and good times how faith is “God’s” strong hand
That picked you up when you fell now on a solid foundation you stand
