Poetry By James Anderson
It's Only a Phase
Your happiness is what you make it
it's real, and not just a dream,
though through our day to day existence
that's the way it may sometimes seem,
Everyone has had some hang ups
but that's life, they're only a phase,
look forward to a sweeter tomorrow
even though you're only promised today's,
For every star that's ever been discovered
has had their ups and downs,
and their moments of grace and freedom
weren't achieved by always wearing a frown,
Whatever it is you wish to be
keep pushing, and don't ever stop,
but you must get to your very own bottom
before you'll ever see the top...

Angel
I was born with this dream as a baby
and it grew, as I grew as a child,
that I would someday find that someone
that knew the true meaning of class and style,
Then I saw her face in a window
that's when I, suddenly realized,
I had finally found my Angel
for it was all there in your beautiful eyes,
Your very soul reaches out to tell you
that from this moment on, you're no longer alone,
you know it's real, by the way you feel
that there's a love, that you've never before known,
Since that day, we've done so much together
and every moment I recall with a smile,
baby, it's a love deeper than any ocean
a love that's longer than any mile,
The gift of life has been made so easy
with all things done together, as one,
these are just a few of the reasons
I thank God for what He has done,
Girl, you're everything I've ever wanted
from all the women I've known in my life,
you've stepped right out of my dreams, or so it seems
and someday, I hope to make you my wife,
For you're that star, that very special Angel
that I've grown to be so much a part,
and until the day your tomorrows cease to come
keep these thoughts am my love in your heart. ...

Grateful
Yesterday she was just a memory
of a dream that had never come true,
but today she's so real, and to express how I feel
I write these words--especially for you,
She's the first of a new generation
from a mother that was once your child,
and just as you were once a little one
Dawn's a baby --but just for a while,
I know now of the joy, love and happiness
that most parents come to know,
for it's their faith, their hope and understanding
that helps their beautiful children to grow,
I'll treasure all the love I've been given
all the love as a child I'd been shown,
I'm grateful for so many reasons
and now I have a child of my own,
I recall the fondest of memories
since the day she and I became one,
we've found life's pleasures were beyond all measures
from the things we've seen, said and done,
Through the years we've seen so many changes
but from the faith we've kept in our hearts,
we've found such a sweet understanding
and a love that has never let us part,
Thank the Lord for my many possessions
for all the sunsets, you've seen in the past,
for all your sweeter tomorrows
and for that child, you've seen at last

Looking Into a Rainbow
Just as I've looked into a rainbow
seeking the shade that would truly be me,
many times I've sat down to wonder
about life, and all the things I could be,
Through the years, I've seen so many changes
the sweet, the bitter, some good and some bad,
and I've found there "are reasons for all of them
the love, the hate, the happy and sad,
For I've lived in the hillside mansions
with their charms, personality and style,
the stars, their cars, and from penthouse bars
tasted wines so sweet and mild,
But I've also seen the hungry children
that for days, hadn't seen a decent meal,
so is it really such a wonder
why they learn to cheat, lie and steal?
But I've enjoyed most or life's pleasures
and have grown to love the finer things,
though it's sometimes hard to keep them
without somehow being tied to their strings,
And I've often reached my destiny
with all my goals sitting at my side,
but then. ...I'd find that there was something missing
and be no longer happy, or even satisfied,
So until I've found my place here
and seen all that there is to see,
only then will I have found my rainbow
only then will I have finally found me

Unspoken Words
I've seen what love has done to many
and I've seen more pains than words could say,
I once thought it could never happen
to truly love, and be loved in the same way,
Then by chance, one day I found you
and it seems I found my very soul,
for since that day, we've been together
since that day, I've found my goal,
Now we've both had our share of changes
and we've had our ups and downs,
but we've always had each other
when no one else could be found,
Through it all, you've been right there beside me
doing everything you possibly could,
when no one else seemed to give a damn
you were the one that always would,
You've given my life so much meaning
my direction has been made so very clear,
my principles and morals have reached the sun
and it's all because of you my dear,
These words have never been spoken
these thoughts have never been shared,
because there has never been anyone quite like you
that's always shown just how much they've cared,
I know I'll never love another
half as much as I've always loved you,
because I've known for quite some time now
that you feel the same way too

The Dawn of Marie
I've known all the joys of happiness
I've also had my share of life's pains,
but I'd live it all over--if I had to
and there wouldn't be much that I'd change,
I've held you--but just for a moment
since the day' you were brought into this world,
but that moment to me, is an eternity
for Dawn, you'll always be my little girl,
A beautiful woman you'll someday be
for your mother birthed a beautiful child,
and I'll always pray, each and every day
that you'll grow up to have all her style,
And I feel in my heart that you'll make it
so live your life, and in your own way,
look forward to all your tomorrows
even though you're only promised today,
May these words be forever with you
and these virtues, you should never forget,
you're a dream come true, in the lives of two
it's for these reasons that I have no regrets,
May your days be long and full of love
and I hope you'll one day understand,
that your father truly loves you
that you're the daughter of one very proud man,
So I write these words for all your tomorrows
for I feel that you should somehow know,
that you'll always be, a special part of me
that's how deep my love for you goes. ...

You and I
I write these words for you darling
though by now, you should know how I feel,
but I just want to express my love to you
to assure you that it's always been real,
You see, I've loved you from the beginning
I doubt that you'll ever know how much,
for it was you that helped me find myself
I felt your love from our very first touch,
And I knew then, as I know now
that what we shared would always last,
that we'd have our ups, and we'd have our downs
my but that our love would never be a thing of the past,
You see my dear, you made me love you
with all your sweet, understanding ways,
through the years that we've been together
my life has seen no better days,
You had your dreams, and I had mine
together, we made them all come true,
we brought a baby girl into this world
and lady, I feel I'll always have you,
I love you today, for what you are
yesterday, for what you have been,
I'll love you tomorrow for what you'll be
girl, I'll love you until the very end....

Someone Special
Since you're always so very busy
doing the things you have to do,
I've taken this time to write these lines
to share some of my thoughts with you,
And even though I haven't known you long
you've inspired me in more ways than one,
each time I see you, it seems there's something new
and I feel that something very special has begun,
I also fee that you've sensed these feelings
although I doubt you knew they were so strong,
but for something to me, that seems so right
I sometimes wonder if I might be wrong?
But I know I could never forgive myself'
for not trying to express this to you,
and I realize this should be happening here
but I'm still hoping that you feel something too,
You possess so many quiet charms and beauties
that only a few have seen, known or tasted,
these are qualities I'm sure you know I treasure
but it hurts to see so much of them wasted,
I truly hope you understand what I'm saying
and it's not that I'd want to change your way of life,
but there's so much more to living, the sharing and giving
that to exist without these precious joys, is a needless sacrifice,
You're such a very sensitive woman
at times I can see this in your eyes,
we both do many different things, for whatever contentment it brings
but for emotions, there's simply no compromise,
I hope these thoughts and words have told you
just how much I do really care,
for believe me, it does make a difference
just knowing that someone special is there

A Place in My Heart
It seems I met you through His graces
when all seemed lost and no one seemed to really care,
when my only possessions -were my own obsessions
that my love would never again be shared,
But now I must say, that since that day
I've found a new beginning, which I hope will never end,
for I truly feel that what we share is real
so these thoughts to you, I send,
For since you've been there, you've seemed to care
about all the things that make life worth living,
and you somehow had to know, of my desires to grow
because your words were only of love, hope and giving,
Yes, it's you that came to me, and set me free
of the troubles that once plagued my mind,
and you've helped this man to truly understand
how one can see so much--yet still be so very blind,
You've been the sole inspiration, that's calmed my frustrations
and given my dreams another chance to survive,
from one extreme to the other, I say to you my brother
it's because of you that my feelings are again so alive,
You've brought so much joy into this small world of pain
and taught me lessons, that I'd thought I already knew,
you've shown me that love is pure and everlasting
even though our days here may only be few,
I remember once trying to share these feelings
and through you couldn't have really known them to be true,
I felt your love and understanding, without really being touched
for even then, I could see my world being you,
Perhaps now you'll see, how much you mean to me
I somehow knew we'd be this way from the start,
and J pray you'll know, no matter where I may go
that you'll always have a very place in my heart....

One of a Kind
.Once again, I find myself thinking of you
of how we met, and how much we've grown,
so you shouldn't be surprised, that I've begun to realize
you could well be the best person that I've ever known,
For as I search my mind, I can't seem to find
anyone that's ever been quite the same as you are,
and though others have added some spice, to my dream-filled life
your qualities have proved to be greater -by far,
Because you've succeeded many where many others
failed and are doing what no one else has ever really done,
as if reborn, your love has mended a life so torn
for you're helped me to see His universal sun,
You've shown me how pains, are sometimes one's own chains
and of how easily the links can be broken,
but we all must start, within our own minds and hearts
this and more I've learned from the caring words that you've spoken,
And though I'll cherish forever, all your love brings
I've often wondered how this debt can ever be repaid,
for how can I continue to give mere painted stones
to one that has only given me jade?
You deserve much more than this world can ever afford
for there's no doubt that you are one of a kind,
so have faith my friend, this will never end
someday, someway--I'll leave this place far behind,
But until then as night becomes day, I'll continue to pray
that someday you'll truly understand how I feel,
and I hope you'll see, that I'm trying to give you all of me
for I've felt your love --and know it to be real

A Rose
You came into my life one afternoon
through your love and concern as a Mother,
for one that from the start, has always had a place in my heart
and one to me, whom I love as a brother,
And although I'd never thought twice of you entering my life
or of you becoming what you now are to me,
slowly time has passed, and I feel at last
that you should know of just what I see,
For I see a Brook, a stream of happiness and joys
a flow of love, hope and understanding,
one that's given all she's had, through both good times and bad
to a world that's been much too demanding,
And I see you've remained such a beautiful woman
even though you've seen far too many unnecessary pains
but my dear, didn't you know, that for a truly fine Rose to grow
that it too, must bear the unfair and needless rains?
And just as the Rose unfolds, from storms unseen and untold
to show endless beauties that are far beyond compare,
from a world that's sometimes shady, you've become such a lovely lady
for you possess many qualities, that are truly just as rare,
So you see my dear, even though you've shed many tears
that not all is wasted-even from life's unwanted pains,
and if you'll search your troubled mind, you may someday find
that your once felt losses, were your most important gains,
And perhaps you'll somehow see, just what you mean to me
and understand what these words have tried to say,
live your todays and tomorrows, not yesterday's sorrows
for sorrows, will only take your precious dreams away....

In You
It seems I still find myself dreaming
of you, and of how you'd someday be there,
about how I've waited so long, to feel a love so strong
of this love, that we've really just begun to share,
And it truly seems that you've somehow stepped from my dreams
into this world I've always known could be real,
a place where doubts and fears, have become faith and cheers
created only by you. and by the way you've made me feel,
You've given me more that I've ever felt before
for I've seen that your many qualities are true,
and just as beauty somehow knows its place in a rose
I've somehow found what I've always needed in you,
I've found that you possess more style and finesse
than any woman that I've ever known before,
and though I've never known a few, none have done what you do
this is why, as the days go by, I'll love you even more,
And though no one knows just how deep our love goes
or that our love will stand the test of time,
but perhaps they'll someday see, that to truly be free
that they must share a love, like yours and mine,
For in you I see, all that love was meant to be
a lovely lady, a lover and a friend,
so you can be sure, that this love will endure
for my love for you, will never end....

My First, At Last
I wish there were a simple way, for these simple words to say
all that I am, all that I'll be, and all that I've been,
but these words can only suggest my few and many quests
to find and share a love, that would never end,
It's for these reasons that I've shared my deepest thoughts with you
in many ways and by all that's been written, said or done,
because I've needed you to see, this special part of me
that's never before been seen or shared with anyone,
Although there were those that had seemed to know
the true meaning of a love that's complete,
in time I'd somehow find, that my lovers were blind
and that our hearts and minds would never meet,
For my love is built of honor, of faith, of trust and respect
that's been inspired by intimate desires to be real,
and by the need to be sure, that my love can be pure
when there's no need to mislead, or conceal the joys and pains that I feel,
So you see my dear, I've chased this dream for many years
in search of a very special lady, just like you,
to be truly proud of, and to share a love
that grows old, yet remains forever young,
For since love is the only reason, that time has no seasons
no winter, no summer, no spring or fall,
we are truly everything, am whatever life may bring
I do, and will always love you, my darling baby doll,
Because I've come to realize that your love bears no disguise
so there's no reason to ever again think of the past,
for what you've given me, has more than let me see
that I've finally found my first love, at last

Forgive Me
Forgive me for believing in you
in all your thoughts and words from the start,
and for conceiving that our minds could grow together
although our bodies would be so far apart,
So forgive me for touching a part of your heart
that perhaps had never before been reached,
for always trying to caress your body and soul
and for showing you realities, in the way I've preached,
Forgive me for all my deepest desires
to express to you how I really feel,
that my trust, love and respect for you
has always been honest, complete and real,
And forgive me for my simple wants
for the things you don't really understand,
but how can one that's never been truly loved
truly know how to completely love her man?
So forgive me for asking you
to be a part of everything I'll ever need,
and for trying to comfort your life, in every way
for being so very limited-yet always trying to succeed,
Forgive my dedication and humble appreciations
which compare to love, would be small,
because there's more than pride, when there's love inside
for love is truly EVERYTHING -or it's nothing at all,
And forgive my often distant interests
which to you, often seem to be a bore,
but there's more to life, than just pain and
strife there's just so much that you've never seen before,
Forgive me for my many details
for being so alive, and for having a degree of taste,
but this understating, knowledge, charm and wisdom
are gifts of life, that I truly can't afford to waste,
So forgive me for these dream-filled days and empty nights
and for trying so hard to see them through,
but perhaps someday, things won't be this way
perhaps you'll help me find the all - somewhere in you

Am I
It seems I've always heard the words of love
of what it should, or perhaps shouldn't be,
that it's more than a feeling of sexual feelings
and that only love could truly set me free,
Free to another world, full of new sensations
that were once only memories or dreams never seen before,
a world that's simply complete and free of shameless deceit
but you sometimes wonder what may someday be in store,
Because although you know, you need this space to grow
you're still aware that there are the unforeseen risks,
but unlike the past, you feel this feeling will always last
for to live without it, would be to only exist,
So you'll give your heart just to be that special part
of another's life that has gently touched your very soul,
and you sense something new in all that you do
which seems to make everything--your only goal,
A goal of true happiness that has been blessed and grown
by its faith, its trust, its respect and understanding,
and by the desires to believe, all can be achieved
when compromises no longer seem to be demanding,
And you somehow realize that to compromise the skies
is to give those cherished pleasures, that magically replace the pains,
for they are truly the extensions, in creating new dimensions,
of a love that will never die, or lose in vain,
So believe it's true, that it could only be you
but I also need to believe, that you're truly mine,
and we'll share the many pleasures of this most valued treasure
a love that lasts, for more than the years of a lifetime,
But at times it still seems that this world is just a dream
of a reality that is yet to come true,
for this is a love, that no one else has ever heard of
and I sometimes wonder, and I really the only one?

Versions
Although I've looked into life's many rainbows
and written so very many unspoken thoughts and words,
once again, I find myself searching for sensible answers
to those simple questions, that often seem so complex and absurd,
For you see, I've seen the very same changes
in the many places and faces that I've seen,
and as I've grown, seeking a trust of my own
I've found that life's only limits, are our own extremes,
And that you'll never truly know, just how far you can go
until you've given yourself, to everything you've sought,
and that through it all, the heights and the falls
that there will always be those few, that can never be bought,
But these are the chosen few that will remain within you
when the time comes for them to truly be yours,
they're the rare possessions, that become their own obsessions
and the priceless gifts that time itself, will respect and adore,
For tIme won't hIde the pleasures, love and prIde
of these very special feelings, that only few will care to know,
and as time comes to pass, you'll find at last
that you love them, and never want to let them go,
Because these are the keys to the realities
that sometimes only you will understand or feel,
but just as life's many versions are seldom known to all
these versions too, are truly just as real,
So in this life that's but a loan, may each have their own
and enjoys its many gifts in every way,
for although we'd love to know, what our tomorrows may hold
it's been written that you're only promised your todays
And as I continue to search for the simple answers
I'll ask myself of the whos? hows? and whys?
but for now, I find that the reasons, for life's many seasons
is that there are always dreams, that will never die. ...

This Love
I won't forget the day, or how we met
or the many dreams I've always seen with you,
and I'm sure you'll say, that you've felt the same way
about this love, that's known by only a few,
But somehow we both understood that a love this good
would be everything --and nothing less,
that in all we'd do, need, want or pursue
that this love would never be put to any test,-
And we began to believe, all that love could achieve
as we lived our dream-filled future plans,
of showing and growing, and of always knowing
that this love should always be held in our hands,
For we found at last, that true love is so vast
and that it truly knows no bounds or limits,
because all that's earned, is always somehow returned
when your hearts, minds and souls are put in it,
And although I'm not always there, to give you my care
rest assured, my love, that you'll always have my heart
that no matter how, where or when -this love will win
for my love for you will never fade or part,
So now that you understand who you are to this man
and know that we are everything our lives will ever need,
may we forever stay in love this way
because what we share is destined to succeed,
Then, as I slowly raise my eyes, I begin to realize
that a love like this is truly so very hard to find,
but you'll always be, so very real to me
even if this love-is only in the dreams of my mind. ...

I Wish
-
I wish I could tell you
how very much I love you
and how proud I am
to know that you are truly mine,
And I wish that I could show you
just how much you mean to me
that the love I've found in you
is truly, one of a kind
I wish I could be with you
to help you be everything that you are,
to love your body --as never before
for you are truly my shining star,
I wish you the everything
that I've had and known in the past,
but more important --I wish us the love
that grows and glows...and lasts....
