Excessive and Mandatory Sentencing

When it comes to sentencing there are is a disparity in he length of the sentences.  Many cases have mandatory minimums which do not take into consideration the facts of the case.  A person caught with a certain amount of drugs can get a life sentence without parole even if they were not selling the drugs.

There are also many cases where the prosecution wants to get even for a case lost in the past, to make an example of the person or other reasons that he or she did not like the person.  Sometimes it is to help their political careers.  In many cases the convicted person not only gets an excessive sentence but they are innocent too.  Michael's case is an example.

If you know of a case please let me know.  I will add a link to their web site if they have one or give them a web page.
