If you go there please read what I have to say before you make the trip
and come back after your trip.
At my second wedding I married a black
woman. We were married in her parents back yard. While
waiting for my bride
to I saw a woman coming up the drive way. She saw me, put her
gift down, turned around and left.
A few years later she was at a party that the inlaws were giving.
She sat next to me at the bar and asked me if I remem-
bered her (She knew that I saw her at the wedding.) I told her
that I did and she told me that she saw her father lynched
and since then she had a prejudice against whites.
After talking she said she liked me but she could not say the same
about other whites.
I shared an apartment with a man who saw his uncle lynched when he was
12. They were going to lynch him too but he escaped and made his
way to Detroit. He never went back home after that. In his
case he is not prejudice against whites.
He realizes that there are bad people in all races.
I have known many people who that been victims of prejudice.
Because of my choice of friends and locations to live I to
have been the victim of prejudice, not by blacks but by whites. I
have rarely had problems wherever I went. I have had problems
with police because I was out of place. The stories about blacks
being harrassed by police in white neighbor-
hoods also can goes for whites in black neighborhoods though not as
much.
I am accepted by almost everyone I meet regardless race, creed,
religion or economic position because I am always my-
self and I consider everyone my equal. I do not look down on
anyone.
To me capital punishment is legalized lynching. It is done as an act of
vengence and is carried out with the same hatred as lynchings.
There are all kinds a bible verses that people use to show that theit
opinion is right. "Though shalt not kill." An
eye for an eye." "Vengence is Mine, sayeth the Lord."
Yes, most of the people want to see serial killers, child killers and
other crimes punished with the death penalty. I say in
those cases death is too easy for them. Many of them want the
death penalty. Once an innocent person is executed the
wrong can not be corrected. The death of the killer will not
bring back the victims.
I am not asking that the victims families forgive and forget. I
am not asking them for compassion. Wouldn't it be better if
you know they had to suffer for the rest of their life in prison and
that that may be a long horrible life. Death may end their
suffering. Prison is a hell on earth.
The death penalty is also carried out on the poor and minorities in
most cases. Many of the innocent people on death row would not be
there if they were not Black, Latino or Poor Whites. In many
cases they are convicted with false testimony
and fabricated evidence. In many cases the prosecution and
the police know the real killer but it is easier to convict the
innocent person or they want to get the innocent person. In
many cases it is done for political gain. Sometimes it may be
business.
