The ethnic festivals on the river front bring the people of the city together to enjoy the music and food of the various cultures in the city. The boat races and the Detroit Gran Prix bring in people from all over the US and the world.
Year round you have entertainment galore. The Fox, Orchestra Hall, Cobo Hall, Joe Louis Arena and many more places. One of my favorites is Vicki's Steak House on Grand River west of Southfield. Greek town is a safe and fun place to visit. The Casino business is doing well though they have not followed through with all of their promises. Downtown is now safer than ever and full of entertainment.
There are many places to enjoy life all over the city.
I am white but I identify more with the Blacks. According to
astrologers I have a black soul. I live in areas that are mostly
black and go to
many places where I am the only white. I have never felt
uncomfortable and I have never been treated badly.
For me there is no place like Detroit. There is no place else I
want
to live. Over the past 20+ years I have seen the city going down
and
coming back and since Mayor Archer's election it has started a
rebirth.
I now live downtown and it is the perfect place for me.
