The real buses.
I have a big problem. The only way I can get around is the bus. S.M.A.R.T. is not a problem. D.D.O.T. is a big problem. I am a low income 60 year old man who can not drive and has arthritis in the knees. I can not walk too far and I need the bus system.
A few months ago we had an almost bus good system
in
The last time the system was this bad Mayor Archer had to fire his college friend and the system improved rapidly. This case it looks like it is a problem caused by a mayor who is too young and inexperienced to handle the problems of the city.
What can be done to solve the problem? Take D.D.O.T. out of the hands of the city and turn it over to S.M.A.R.T. All of D.D.O.T. employees and assets should be taken over by S.M.A.R.T. The city has proven that it can not handle the bus service for the city and it does not make sense to have two bus systems for the tri-county area.
Yes S.M.A.R.T. has its problems but many are
because of the
City of
I have no problems with the bus drivers for D.D.O.T. They are by the most part good people and good drivers. They are working under poor conditions taking the brunt of the rider complaints which are not fault of their own. They are blamed for problems caused by the city. If something is not done soon the drivers will decide to leave.
The problem is because the mechanics can not keep up with the repair backlog. Part of it is because of the inferior quality of the new busses. Part of it is because there are not enough qualified mechanics. The mayor’s decision to lay off mechanics made things even worse. Tell me why anyone would lay off people that are needed to continue operations.
