Memorial to My Father
Foster Ramage “Bud” Gaylord

Bud Gaylord (1993) Marie Gaylord (2004)
Who is Bud Gaylord? Yes I said who. His body died on 12/1/92 but he lives on. That is what keeps my mother going.
Bud Gaylord is my father. Bud Gaylord is my mentor. Bud Gaylord is my savior. See My Father Saved My Life After He Died. I am who I am today because of Bud Gaylord.
I always knew that there was something about my Dad that was different than other fathers. He was a hard worker and he knew his work. He was wanted by the companies in his field so he always had a job when he was upset with his employers.
He was a teacher.
All who knew him loved him. He treated everyone like a friend. He never acted as a superior person to anyone. He gave everyone a chance. He never said anything against anyone (except a politician or two)
When he passed on the doctors and nursed who were there cried. In the short time he was in the hospital they all loved him. Everyone who knew him felt the loss of a man who touched their lives and who was a true friend. He made them feel good about themselves because he showed them that they were important to him. Everyone loved him because he loved everyone (except a politician or two)
My Mother said that when she met him that she thought, “This is the man who will care for me for the rest of my life. He will always love me no matter what I do.” She was right. Even though his body is gone she knows he still cares for her and he will care for her after they meet again when she passes on. She is not afraid of death because she knows that they will be together when she passes on.
My father was on the road a lot when I was a child but when he was home he gave me quality time. On Saturdays he would take me to work with him. He always worked around trucks. He and a partner had a REO dealership, worked with truck leasing companies (One he and a partner owned.) and worked with other trucking companies. He was well known in the trucking industry and I loved being around the trucks and the people that worked for him. They too loved him.
People who worked for him loved to work for him because he made them feel an important part of the business. A business is only as good as its employees. Everyone is a part of the team. Everyone is important to that team. My Dad made sure that they knew it.
I miss my Dad but he is in my heart. Whenever I need him and his wisdom I look in my heart and he is there. I think about what he would do and he lets me know. My Dad is not dead but passed on to a new life. The same goes for your father and other loved ones who passed on.
